Every Saturday — 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
I have been with Empire Broadcasting for close to 20 years. I started working in the radio field in 1983 as a board operator for 1460 KDON AM in Salinas California at the big band station. I currently work the overnight shifts at KRTY and do weekends and fill-ins for all the day parts.
A little about myself, born and raised on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula in a small community called Marina. I became curious about radio in high school during career days when we had local DJ’s come by and talk about jobs in radio. I soon contacted local radio stations looking for any type of work I could do to get my foot in the door and happened to come across a station looking for help running the equipment and helping in promotions and thus my radio career began.
I have worked in many formats my favorite being the country format because of the heart felt messages in the music, the artists I meet and the type of listener I get to interact with.
I have lived in the San Jose community since 1986 when I moved here to complete my BA degree in Radio, Television and Film from San Jose State.
I have been married to my lovely wife Alda for 11 years and have two daughters that we adopted from the County of Santa Clara, their ages are 4 and 8.
I enjoy doing volunteer work with the Second Harvest Food Bank as well as other organizations and do host a fun event every year called “Bark in the Park” because of my love of dogs. I feel that being involved in the community is very important especially with the type of job that I hold as an on air personality at KRTY.
If asked what type of food I love to eat it is Mexican food, but I love all types of food and love the variety that the South Bay has to offer.
I enjoy all kinds of music and love to travel. Hawaii is one of my favorite places to vacation because of the beauty but I do have family in Kauai that we love to visit and house sit for. I have finally traveled to Japan several years back to visit my mothers’ side of the family where I learned about her roots and experienced its culture, which was a very rewarding and memorable trip. I soon want to visit Portugal where my wife was born and still has relatives.
I enjoy watching comedies and police movies, one of my favorites being the “Dirty Harry” films from Clint Eastwood.
Go ahead make my day and listen to KRTY. You’re going to love what you hear!
