Once a month, KRTY Program Director – Julie Stevens, sits down with Dr. Geoff Nugent of Nugent Family Counseling to discuss mental health during these changing times.
Dr. Geoff Nugent is a Board Certified Professional Counselor (BCPC), licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) in five states (Nevada, California, Arizona, Idaho, and Utah), and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). His focus includes adolescents dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, self-esteem, relationship, and behavioral issues.
Dr. Geoff Nugent earned his Ph.D. in Health Psychology from Walden University, where he was recognized for outstanding scholastic achievement. His dissertation focused on adolescents and the effects of video games on quality of life, resilience, and motivation to play. He has been trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Hypnosis, autism spectrum issues, bully prevention, crisis intervention, Positive Parenting, Sports Psychology, and currently is gaining certification in Neurofeedback through BCIA..
His work experience includes Mobile Crisis Team suicide assessment and family support for children with mental health disorders. He worked as a Supervisor of Behavior and Mental Health for the schools in the Campbell Union School District. Currently, Dr. Nugent is the CEO and lead therapist of the Nugent Family Counseling Center Inc.
