Gary Scott Thomas

Where are you from?  “Florala, Alabama”

What community do you reside in now?  “I proudly live in South San Jose!”

Family and relationships?  “I am married to Heather, and we are the proud parents of Luke and Jackson.  I have four sisters, and one brother who has joined my parents in heaven, and way too many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews to mention here!”

Pets?  “None at this time”

First or most memorable concert? My first one was in Red Level, Alabama, in the middle of a field, where I saw Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton perform on a flat bad trailer.  I have seen too many great concerts to try and list the memorable moments, but I will say I am a very lucky man.”

Hobbies? I play golf, I have a lot of desire to go with very little talent.  I also run, not because I really enjoy it, it’s just something I can do, and it allows me time to listen to my audiobooks.  I love throwing the football with my boys and watching their games and practices.”

Favorite food and beverages?  “Can I say all of it?  I’m asking for a friend.”

Favorite quote?Nothing ever works out the way you think it will”

Anything else to add?

“I tell everyone  that I may be the most blessed man you know.  As I say in my favorite quote, ask Julie, I have been saying it for years, nothing ever works out the way you think it will, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  I never envisioned this career, and I have told my wife and kids, I live a life, that honestly, I couldn’t have even dreamed of.  It was just something I could not have imagined.  I get to spend four hours with my best friend every morning, and all I’m truly doing is trying to make her laugh.  I do the same thing whether we are on the air or not.  I am so proud to be a part of such a unique station, KRTY is truly one of the most astounding stories in the history of broadcasting, and that’s not hyperbole.  I never get to coast around here, because everyone pushes you to be the best you can be.  I’m trying to teach my sons my motto for working here: You give your best effort every single day.  Some days will be better than others, but you can always try your hardest.  And I think the station does the same thing.  Thank you all for letting me be a part of your lives, because you have certainly been a part of mine.”

Julie Stevens
