How long have you been at KRTY? “I’ve been with KRTY for 23 years. I’m currently work 7pm to midnight Monday to Friday. I’m also the station’s Production Director. KRTY Highlights…Going through a car wash in the back of the KRTY truck. Bull Riding in the 1997 Grand National Rodeo at the Cow Palace. I broke my arm. Dressed up as an alligator for the city of Campbell’s Boogie On The Bayou Festival. Dressed up as Cupid for Valentines Day.”
How long have you been in radio broadcasting? “I’ve been working in radio for 25 years”
Where are you from? “Born and raised in San Jose. Grew up in the East Side of San Jose. I went to Mt. Pleasant High School. I was the school mascot. I dressed up as the big red cardinal and ran around football games and basketball games.”
Family and relationships (Married/Kids)? “I’m married with three kids”
Pets? “I have a dog named Olaf (he likes warm hugs) and a cat named Sushi”
First or most memorable concert/show? “I think it was 1997, Garth Brooks played the SAP for three days. The show was great, but the most memorable part was that I fell walking down the steps. I was carrying a tray with 2 beers and french fries….I slipped and fell on my butt. Fries went flying and both beers spilled all over the front of my jeans!”
What kind of shenanigans do you get into on your days off? “I’m a big fan of Disneyland and everything Disney. I’ve been an Annual Pass Holder for the past 6 years. When I’m not working I like to ride bikes…. beach cruiser style bicycles. I love basketball. I’m a big fan of the Warriors, but to be honest, I’ll sit and watch any basketball game no matter who’s playing from NBA to AAU/NJB.”
Favorite food (or beverage)? “Mexican and Chinese /Japanese”

“Working at KRTY is the best job ever! I can’t imagine doing anything else! I love my job! I knew I wanted to work in radio when I was 16 years old. I guess you can say I’m living my dream! You may know me as Indiana Al, I’m actually Al Breiten. And no, I’m not from Indiana. I’ve actually never even been to Indiana. The name comes from Indiana Jones.
