MOVIE REVIEW

“Avengers: Infinity War”
RELEASE DATE: April 27, 2018
MPAA RATING: PG-13 (for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references)

The popularity of “Avengers: Infinity War” continues to grow since its initial release, and the latest offering from Marvel Studios, owned by Disney, has become one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

The scope and pacing of the film is impressive, if not exhausting. With so many characters from the Marvel universe interacting, perhaps only the most ardent of fans can keep up. And at the risk of providing any spoilers, this cinematic journey is a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from sadness and shock to joy and hopefulness. Yes, several characters meet their demise in this film, but heck – it’s a superhero movie and anything is possible in science fiction and fantasy – even the likelihood that we have not seen the last of any of these Avengers.

Talented directing brothers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, working from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, deliver a product that in many ways has set the standard for future films in this genre.

The big budget for “Avengers: Infinity War” is certainly apparent on the screen, not just through the visually engaging special effects, but also the performing star-power, including Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), and Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa/Black Panther) just to name a few.

As fans already know, be sure to remain in the theatre through the end credits roll for a teaser of the next installment. Let’s just say, it’s “MARVELous.”
